Volunteer to inspire young people about the world of work!
Whatever your role in DHL, there is a way you can help make a difference with GoTeach. Our team provide full support, resources and briefings to every employee taking part, whether that’s supporting a session that takes one hour, half a day or a programme that requires a longer term commitment.

Together with the leaders of each of the DHL UK divisions, I would like to encourage you to share your skills and experience through the GoTeach programme and help young people near you to prepare for the world of work. Thank you in advance for your support.”

What is coaching?
The Teach First Coaching Programme matches colleagues with teachers and leaders in schools serving low-income communities and facing the toughest challenges. Coaches and coachees work together over the school year through regular one-to-one online sessions, with coaches using their expertise, time and commitment to help teachers develop their professional goals and address the challenges they face.
What is a Classroom Activity?
DHL employees can deliver 1 to 2 hour sessions in local schools to deliver one of our sessions. Before going into a classroom, all employees attend a briefing call with one of the Foundation team and will answer any questions you may have. We usually have 2-4 volunteers delivering a session so you are not expected to deliver these alone.
What is Mentoring?
The Bridge Builder mentoring programme offers DHL employees the opportunity to mentor a young person taking part on City Year UK’s programme. This programme recruits 18-25 year olds to volunteer full-time in schools for a year to tackle educational disadvantage. DHL employees are then matched with a mentee and over the course of 9 months, support them with skill development, interview practice, and career goals.
What is the outdoor residential programme?
Employees apply to take part in this programme as a positive role model, partnering with a school over a 6-month period. (Jan to July). Employees deliver tailored sessions in school, introducing year 10 students to the world of work, helping them to realise their full potential and develop a wide range of skills from team working to resilience.
This programme includes a 5-day residential at an Outward Bound centre, taking students and employees alike out of their comfort zone and into the wild.
This programme requires a higher level of commitment than some of our other programmes however it is a very rewarding one!
What is a Reading Programme?
In partnership with literacy charity Bookmark, DHL employees can support a child with their reading. You would deliver 30-minute, one-to-one reading sessions to a 5-10 year old child who needs help with their reading. Sessions take place online, either twice a week for 6 weeks or once a week for 12 weeks, fitting around your schedule.
What is a Site Visit?
DHL employees can host young people for an site visit at a DHL site. This often includes a site tour, careers Q&A with DHL employees, and logistics-themed problem solving and teamwork activities. The Foundation will be on hand to support with the planning of these sessions. This opportunity is dependent on your location and the location of our partner schools.
Hint: Use your site’s training or meeting room space to run the activities provided in the toolkit. This can make the day fun, memorable and help reinforce learning.
