Highlights of November

The second in our monthly highlights series showcases just how busy the Foundation team and DHL colleagues are supporting the education and employability of young people across the UK. Thank to everyone who got involved last month – here are a few snapshots:

Chris, Mandy and Mellissa delivered a CV & Interview Skills workshop at Weston Favell Academy

Chris, Mandy and Mellissa, all of whom are mentors on the 2018 GoTeach programme with The Outward Bound Trust, recently delivered their final session with students at Weston Favell Academy. The 36 Year 11 students took part in a CV and interview kills workshop – working on their own CV and learning valuable interview techniques, including a mock interview.

Learning from Leaders in Birmingham

Miranda Gordon from NHS Supply Chain shared a panel with other leaders from various organisations. The session was attended by 51 young people, all keen to hear from leaders in their field about routes into different careers. The aim of the session is to give young people the opportunity to listen to the career journeys of a varied panel of leaders, gain an understanding of careers that may be available post City Year and have the opportunity to ask detailed questions.

Global Forwarding in Hayes

Craig Brittan along with Nicky from the Foundation team spent the day in Hayes promoting the GoTeach UK engagement opportunities to DHL Global Forwarding colleagues – can’t wait to get people signed up!

Craig Brittan is Customs Solution Design & Implementation Manager for Europe is the DHL UK Foundation’s Ambassador from DHL Global Forwarding.

 

Meet one of the 2019 Outward Bound Mentors!

We would like to introduce you to Anna Walker, DHL Marketing Manager based in Bracknell.  Anna has signed up to GoTeach with The Outward Bound Trust and will be one of the team of colleagues supporting students on their employability and outdoor education adventure with The Outward Bound Trust in 2019.  Good Luck Anna!

 

Meet the DHL UK Scholars at the University of Edinburgh

Early in the month the Trustees and team visited the University of Edinburgh and met with recipients of the DHL UK Foundation STEM Scholarships.

Brand you Masterclass with Steph Archer at Elliott Hudson Academy

Steph delivered the Masterclass to the Career Ready cohort of students at the college.  The session helped the students establish their personal brand and how it can be preserved in the wider world and finished with an activity.

Steph said “The session went well – it’s a great module that really gets the students thinking about how they represent themselves”.

Outward Bound assembly – Kingswood Academy in Corby

The team delivered an assembly to 200 Year 10 students at Kingswood Academy, Corby promoting the opportunity with DHL colleagues and The Outward Bound Trust – we are looking forward to seeing the student application forms!
